I've never understood those websites that start with “Hi my name is ……..” – and in this case I would imagine it’s perfectly obvious from the url what my name is anyway.

So this as it stands this is quite simply an early attempt at getting my web site sorted out and as I have a passion for photography that seems like a pretty good place to start although I suspect you’ll find other completely useless bits of information littered around.  I do love a gadget so there's no doubt I could have been considerably richer if I hadn't squandered so much on them.

I have had a serious interest in photography for over 23 years and that doesn’t include the first 110 camera my mum and dad brought for me, I’m totally self taught and have sat no exams or obtained any recognised letters after my name.  If you enjoy taking photographs and can make people happy in the process then go for it, that’s my attitude to it.  I have “dabbled” with most aspects of photography but I very much prefer portraiture and more general reportage photography, mainly because I look at other shots I’ve taken and think wow that’s a really crap landscape photo.

So I can tell you that wedding photography is a nightmare if you are taking pictures of people you care about like your friends or family - the pressure is really on - but I’m sorry to say that there is nothing magical about performing the duty you just have to be well organised, very realistic about what you are going to be able to do on a tight time frame, and yes OK OK prepared for the occasional disaster, like a flash or camera failing.

Don’t get me wrong it’s not easy, I can already hear all you pro’s bleating “Oh no another bloody amateur who thinks taking a few snaps at a wedding isn’t that hard” it’s just that I wish some of you would admit that you actually don’t always take the greatest photo in the world, in fact some of the stuff I’ve seen is woeful, and people have parted with their hard earned cash.

So my current project is a “calendar” I have been trying to sort this one out for about 5 years so far and with my full time job denying me any time at all it’s been impossible to organise – but finally things have calmed down a bit and that’s my first goal of the new millennium, all be it a bit late.
